Therapeutic power of pilgrimage and Hindu festivals like DIWALI
Have you ever observed the fact that many Hindu Gods are surrounded by beautiful natural setting ?
Pajani, Tirupathi, Tirouvanamalai (see my photos of this SHIVA temple), Haridwar, Rishikesh are an invitation to taste the nature's bounty which expresses itself in green pastures and mountains and blue rivers and lakes. In guise of going to temple, our ancestors often built temples on top of the mountains and they wanted us to climb all the way to the top not by being transported by a cable car or by being carried by people but by walk.
By viewing every suffering "with a distance" from the top, you just burn their impact on your "muscle memory".
They had invented the most effective therepeutic method to cure ailments by combining exercise( mountain climbing) and spiritual practices like chanting bhajans all the way while enjoying the nature (experience of oneness with the universe). Pilgrimage like this helps you in expelling all bad experienes of life that tries to dispose of their poison in your system, By breathing heavily and deeply when you climb the hill, you can derive the same benefits as from doing "pranayama".
Imagine your body to be a tree ; when you face moral violence say, in your workplace or school or college or anywhere, that traumatic event will penetrate in to your sysem first entering the physical level (muscles) and then your mental level by becoming "bio-memeory" and becoming your personality. That is the danger. You should not allow external things to conquer and colonise your inner space as do termite inside a tree that will nibble away the interior of the tree they penetrate. Just by observing their presence will do miracles to shatter them and make them quit your spiritual tree.
When stress of evey day gets in to your system and succeeds in getting access to first your mental realm then to your "muscles", then you can by practising simply this "pilgrimage theapy" atleast once in 42 days, to expel those bad memories being burrid deep in your muscles.
The daily life is filed with agitaton, irritation, panic attack and nerve racking work load. when you have to cope with dictator minded and autocratic bosses, all this make your system fragile if you recieve the "punches of life" in compete unawareness.

IF in your physical system , God gifted you with the noble "white cell" which is your ulmtate protector that defends your immunity to virus and saves you from illness whereas in your mental space, it is up to you to protect it with your spiritual strength. You are left alone to create your own defence sheld to wade off incoming external stress attack:
You know what is this NEW "white cell' that you should create to protect your inner "etheric or energetic body" , gateway to your physical body. In fact, you have two bodies : one is made of flesh, blood and bones and another is energetic body. Taking care of your emotional body (astra body) will keep your energetic level in peak good condition , basic requirement to prempt attack by modern kali yuga agressions.
This white cell is the cultural, spiritual energy that you gained from listening to satsangs and reading "SHIVA SUTRAS" or "BAGAVAT GITA" or reciting conciously mantras or chanting bhajans or meticulously practising rituals that helps you to sacrifice you ego by surrendering it to KALI, MOURUGA, SHIVA or KRISHNA.
Hndu festivities get people together and help to safeguard the common social energy. When people share culural heritage with their family and friends, then it will result in social solidarity and unity more effectively than what the government can contribute with legislative means. They form the invisible cement that keeps the Bharat motherland's inner cultural structures stand together strongly. Their role in social peace is not fully studied and should be taken as subject of PHD THESIS and the lessons of such studies should help legislators propose more social unity friendly laws not social divisive laws. People should be vigilant to select those legislators in the two chambers with care so that their policy is not based on "divide and rule" inherited from the British colonial mindset. Remember ,it is useless to remain stagnant since 60 years with no progress but a particpative democratic social mood should be established so that that change happens.
Let us keep the light of hope and peace always lit in our hearts. Let the flag of sanatana Dharma fly high for ever and never fall prey to predator type organisations.
