The root-cause of all problems.

The root-cause of all problems.

When life gives you an enormous stress due to a number of bad things happening one after another, when people persecute you and reject you totally, you feel helpless.
When you enjoy good things like promotion in your job, love and affection of your spouse, raise in your standard of life etc, you think it is only normal and you just deserve them.
But, when bad things happen one after another as if you walk in a dark tunnel and the exit is not visible,   your mental suffering knows no bound.
Why this suffering?  When you are tormented by external negative events happening in your life, those events have an impact on your mental space because you allow them to enter in to your mind. You are porous to those external events.  The root-cause of this suffering you experience is because you identify yourself to your body and when that image is attacked by people or events, you protest and react to protect your image. But when you say to yourself, “what is in my hands is just the possibility to act as efficiently and as ethically as possible but what go out of control are the consequences of my actions”, then you can be more realistic and less utopic.
Some people try to mediate on their thoughts of worry to tranquilize them; it is like English medicine that tries to cure the symptoms of a disease without trying to apply the holistic method of Ayurvedic medicine. Until your cure the root-cause of that worry, you will not be able to attain stable peace of mind.
When you buy something say a car, what is in your hands is the choice to buy a car that suits you but you can not foresee is the accident that may happen when you drive it.
When you buy some vegetables for your wife, you can put all your attention to buy the best ones but your wife may find them infested with worms.
When you take several decisions in your job, even though you may have left no stone turned to verify their worthiness, the consequences of those decisions may be catastrophic.
When you speak truth, people may label it as “lie”.
When you do something to help someone, they may think that there is a hidden intention behind your innocent action.
Whatever you may do may be attacked by envious persons on one ground or other. They will reject whatever you may do.
But, what you should remember is this that you should have neither specific expectation (you should be ready to accept whatever may be the outcome of your action whether they are negative or positive) nor the desire to modify the course of events to fit your expectations. (They will only produce thoughts of anxiety about the future and torment you day and night.).   This is easier said than done; it is extremely difficult to accustom one to accept the negative consequences embedded in any action. Say to yourself that the reward of such thinking is the eternal bliss. You will do it effortlessly.  Accept any result that may ensue out of any action.  I will say that you should not only accept whatever that may occur to you , you should go one step further, please welcome any of them as if God wants to give you as a personal gift even though you may face experiences that may be bitter than neem juice. Welcome anything that is beyond your control with the cognition that it is given to you by the will of cosmos. ACCEPTING AND WELCOMING ALL EVENTS WITH THE SAME BALANCED VISION  is the best personal defence system. This is the secret for finishing with your wavering, instable and fluctuating suffering.
How to do this ?  What is the solution to have zero impact of unpredictable and instable flow of events? When you accept to surrender yourself to God abandoning all thoughts of attachment to fruits of your actions, then what else you need ? You just radiate calmness and serenity. "When the train carries all travellers, why you still continue to carry your luggages in your hands ?" asked Ramana Maharishi. Put them down, the train which carries all, will also carry your luggages. The deeper your confidence in God, the more easier you will feel to cut off the attachments to the results of whatever you do.
Only thing is to surrender yourself totally and only when the total surrender happens, you may succeed to dissociate your body from the actions of the “doer” because the latter is not you but God playing that role for you. God is the doer, then let the result of all actions be His worry not yours. Just keep on murmuring "om nama shivahaya"  or "om namo narayana" and keep on repeating that mantra in your inner space making sure that your surrender is total and not partial. Be confident He who has made earth and all other planets go around the Sun smoothely never colliding with each other, He knows how to take care of you.
Perhaps , most of us know all this philosphy but to live it on a daily basis is necessary. That is what says Krishna in Bagavad Gita and Patanjali in Shiva Sutras but we need to remember it always and forever that we should surrender the consequences to the Lord but continue to put all our heart and soul in our actions carefully ensuring that those actions are executed  in a righteous and ethical way. So, your job is to act but let God take care of the rest.  Let all thoughts of anxiety be blocked entrance to your heart; Let them remain only in the mental realm and never go down to the heart centre. Let no anxiety pass down your throat and reach you heart to make it beat more fastly. Let stress be contained in that zone where no feeling can influence your health and damage it. In a nutshell, make sure your heart never beats fast because of external influence.
That's all. It is so simple yet the best one that exists since the dawn of the universe.
Conclusion: Just do your duty and let the consequences rest entirely in the hands of God (KRISHNA OR SHIVA according to your taste). You will have all your mental and physical energy to do whatever is needed to be done to accomplish your task in the best way. Your mind will not wander to an uncertain future and create mood swing.  When you do this carefully and consciously, you will rest in the present moment and enjoy stable peace of mind as if a foolproof sound (blocking terrible words) and thermal insulation (keeping mental heat down) prevent external events entering in to your inner space. Accepting wholeheartedly instability is the best way to remain in mental stability. Like a true surgeon , cut the doer from the action he does or the result oozing out of that action. The separation of action from the thought related to it’s outcome is the secret to attain stable and eternal bliss.
