COMMENTS ON THE IDEA OF " SELF AND ACTION " OF RAMANA MAHARISHI

GANESH : AS SRI KRISHNA exhorts ARJUNA not to think of the consequences of the action once it's righteousness according to  Dharma is established in the mind and advises ARJUNA to offer the fruits of such an action to SRI KRISHNA, so also RAMANA MAHARISHI also joins with SRI KRISHNA to give an identical message. The core of the core of the core of Hinduism is if you transcend body identification, mental activity and intellectual activity produced by this body identification also disappears. And what remains is "pure consciousness" without any "body-mental-intellect" notions.
Example : if you do a work say building a wall; even though your body is participating in that work and your mind is guiding your hands to do it , your intellect is giving global cohesion to the project, you may still rest untouched by all these three body-mind-intellect in action. How ? that 's the secret ! BAGAVAT GITA and RAMANA MAHARISHI exposed clearly those secrets and made humanity understand that one may perform action while always not feeling "I am the doer of this and that action". Just get rid of the identification with your body-mind-intellect and replace it by immersion in the "primeval energy " of OM that is linked with the symbolic representation of GODS and GODDESSES of SANATANA DHARMA.
  1. Sadhu Om: "Just as the cinema screen, which is the base pervading all the pictures, is not burnt by a picture of fire or drenched by a picture of a flood, so Self, the Supreme Reality which is the base pervading all activities, is not affected by any number of activities. Therefore, since the one who attends to Self remains as Self itself, he is not affected by any number of activities he may appear to be doing."]
  2. [Sri Muruganar: "(i) The words ‘all activities’ include both worldly activities and religious activities. (ii) Since he who abides in the reality [Self] loses his doership, it is said ‘he will not be affected’. Therefore, though [it may appear as if] he does everything, in fact he does nothing."]
  3. Rajaraman Venkatachalam The doership consciousness is lost when one abides in Self and makes body- mind- intellect as instruments at the disposal of Self. When we do work with the consciousness ' I am no body, doing the roles of somebody for the welfare of everybody ' , we can do n number of activities without strain and energy loss.
