To a friend who writes with a "desi" touch

Your style of writing and the subjects of which you write are really Indian and our children need to be taught English as Indians lived this alien language through their eyes recounting an Indian experience of life set in an Indian background: There is a huge difference when an English speaks of his lakes and valleys with which we don't feel connected finding them "exotic" and with which we have difficulties to relate. When Indians describe their "desi' scenes , so near to our way of living and thinking. Transmission of Indianess in English is best done by Indian authors. So, authors like you should propose for school text books non-detailed stories that has an authentic Indian content best suited for preserving our traditions and not just swallowing an alien content so strange which will make our children only aloof and not close to the subject taught.
